BIRTH DOULA CARE

After attending several hundred births in the past 12 years, I can confidently say that every birth is unique! Families birthing in the Cowichan Valley are so fortunate to have both home and hospital birthing options as well as wonderful care providers. I work in tandem with your birth partner and health care providers to care for you in your birth experience by providing non-medical physical, emotional, and informational support.

All birth doula care starts with a consultation where you can get to know me, share your hopes and concerns for your birth, and ask any questions that have been on your mind about birth, babies, and doula care.

What does birth doula care include?
Prenatal Support
- Virtual or in-home prenatal visit at 34-38 weeks along to discuss birth wishes, pregnancy so far, find out more about how I can support you and your birth partner, and review comfort measures for your birth.
*One additional prenatal visit can be scheduled if desired.

Optional - Prenatal Classes
- For families who are interested in private or group prenatal classes in addition to doula care, these cost an additional $150 and are done in two 3 hour sessions in your home or when scheduled for group classes. If done privately, these will take the place of the traditional prenatal visits and the same material will be covered in addition to the class information.

Birth Support
- Early labor support in your home* or in the hospital** when you feel that you'd like support from your doula.
- Active labor support in your home or in the hospital** for when labor starts to get more challenging.
- Birth support in your home or in the hospital and support during the first couple hours postpartum.
- Pictures of your birth and first moments as a new family (as per your wishes).
Postpartum Support
- 24/7 text support for your first 10 weeks postpartum.
- A postpartum visit within the first 3 weeks of your birth to support you with baby-feeding, sibling adjustment, and non-medical physical support as you heal.
